Governor Perry signs "clean car" measure

I red this article in Houston News, which is about the replacement of 10 years old car with the new one by state support. I think; this article is worth of reading if you have a 10 years old car and thinking to get rid of it.
In an attempt to reduce the existing pollution in cities like Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, and Houston, Governor Perry recently signed “clean car” measure. The program was created six years ago aiming to retire 50,000 vehicles from polluted areas of the state by escalating a financial subsidy program. Recently, the government has modified the law by adding more incentive for those who can qualify. Initially, the program made eligible for only those who were earning up to 200 percent of the poverty level, which was $41,300 for a family of four. Now, the program makes eligible for those who are earning up to 300 percent of the poverty level, which is $62,570 for a family of four. Even though, families who are eligible to this program cannot get the cash in their hand, they can use the money for a down payment to buy a new energy efficient vehicle from the participating dealers. Money for the vehicle replace program would increase from $11 million to $90 million. I consider; this new incentive measure is very supportive for Texans to get rid of those old cars and replace them with cleaner vehicles.
